Ethel and Guy were still married at the time Ethel's mother Emma died in 1937. Her children said they were married 25 years, so that means they were divorced after July 1938.
Information from documents Maxine has. (Aug, 2001)
Ethel and Bill Stoneburner were married by Rev Lipkee at Trinity Luthern Church, Muskegon, in 1941. In a letter (to and from?)
the reception was at their house on Heights Ravenna Road. They had chicken for supper. The "kids" were there, Roy (her brother), Maude and Alice (her sisters) and two girl friends.
She worked at Borg Warner Corp., in Muskegon, from January 23, 1936 to February 5, 1944. She took a leave of absence until March 20, 1944. She left because of illness and never went back.
Notes from letters written by Ethel or Maxine.

Chuck... (2000) Ethel know all along she was a Reintjes. When she was married, she used the name McGillis. When Guy found out her real maiden name, they had a big fight.
Maxine has Ethel's hair that she cut off when she was 24 years old. She could sit on her hair at the time. In those days they kept hair to practice using a curling iron.
